Selling artwork from your collection may seem like a daunting endeavor but we are happy to guide you through the process and help you find the best return on your investment. Based on the information we have available to us about the piece(s) for sale we will recommend one of the following deaccessioning methods.

Sale to Other Collections
This is generally the most straightforward method so long that the work has been recently appraised. If you are in need of an appraisal we will happily refer you to an appraiser well-suited to the piece(s) in question. If you intend to sell work from your collection regularly we can discuss building your digital footprint as an art collector and seller online.

Auction
While usually less lucrative than selling to other collectors, listing with auction houses can often be a great option, especially if you are unsure of the artwork's current value. If your artwork becomes the subject of a bidding war in a room full of eager collectors you could bring home quite a bit more than you expected. We will happily select and liaise with auction houses on your behalf.

Consignment with Galleries
Like auctioning, consigning can yield a lower return because the gallery will need to make a profit on their eventual sale of the piece(s). If, however, your work is by an acclaimed artist, finding a gallery that focuses specifically on that artist is potentially the shortest path to a sale.

Charitable Donations
Donating single pieces or even portions of your collection to museums or other cultural institutions can be a rewarding endeavor. In order to ensure proper transfer of ownership and document any resulting tax implications, this process is usually handled by a donor's legal representation and the institution's office of acquisitions or development. If requested, we will gladly suggest one or more organizations and initiate a conversation with the appropriate person on staff.
